LESSON PLAN DAY 6
Key Content
Anchor Descriptor - A1.2.3.2: Use data displays in problem solving settings and/or to make predictions.
Eligible Content A1.2.3.2.1: Estimate or calculate to make predictions based on a circle, line, bar graph, measures of central tendency, or other representations.
What Will Students Do?
Students will create infographics to display the data they have gathered. Students will be given a list of data to work from. Teachers will have created the list to summarize their findings and pull out relevant results. Students can work independently or in a pair. They will all use the site https://infogr.am/ where they have already created an account. This site allows for collaboration. Students must create either a circle graph, bar graph, or line graph. They also must display some sort of issue of injustice through their creation. A rubric for the infographic can be found below.
Here is a sample I made using the ACLU of PA data.
What Will Teachers Do?
Teachers will aid students in creating an infographic. They will give a short tutorial on how to use Infogram and then let students work on their own.
Assessments
Resources Needed
Homework
Probability Assignment (would be created using YPAR data)
I envision this being similar to the questions asked in the Probability Notes
Whatever is created should assess students' understanding of concepts of probability.
