LESSON PLAN DAY 7
Key Content
Anchor Descriptor - A1.2.3.2: Use data displays in problem solving settings and/or to make predictions.
Eligible Content A1.2.3.2.1: Estimate or calculate to make predictions based on a circle, line, bar graph, measures of central tendency, or other representations.
What Will Students Do?
Students will have class time to synthesize their infographics with other students who have similar themes to their own. For example, if two students made infographics focusing on the suspension rates broken down by race/ethnicity, they might combine their work to create a more powerful visual.
In the time that remains, we will discuss the school to prison pipeline. We will begin this discussion by watching the video
How the School to Prison Pipeline Ruins Lives Before They Start. Students will then respond to the questions like:
How does this make you feel? Do you think this has happened to students at our school? What could we do to somehow impact this reality or make more people aware of it?
What Will Teachers Do?
Teachers will help students to complete infographics and find common themes among their classmates' work. They will also facilitate the discussion about the school to prison pipeline to incite possible actions.
Assessments
Resources Needed
